Writing a will is something many people put off. For some, it is the perceived complexity; for others, it is simply a conversation they would rather avoid.

At BeAdvised Legacy Planning we take a different approach. We make the process clear, straightforward and free from unnecessary jargon — so what may feel daunting becomes simple and manageable.

More importantly, a will is one of the most valuable things you can put in place for your family. It ensures that your wishes are clearly documented and that the people you care about are looked after in the way you intend.

Without a valid will, your estate is distributed in line with the rules of intestacy, which may not reflect your wishes. Those rules make no provision at all for an unmarried partner, and none for a stepchild you have not legally adopted. By planning ahead, you retain control and provide certainty at an important time.

Our experienced estate planners will meet with you — typically in the comfort of your own home — to understand your circumstances fully. Whether you are writing your first will, navigating blended family arrangements, or addressing more complex situations, we will create a clear, legally valid document tailored to your needs.

Signing is where most home-made wills fail. A will has to be signed in the presence of two independent witnesses who are not beneficiaries and are not married to beneficiaries, and both of them must sign in your presence too. Get that wrong and the gift to the witness fails, or the whole will fails. We supervise the signing so it is done correctly.

A will should not be a one-off. Marriage revokes an earlier will automatically unless it was made in contemplation of that marriage — the most common way people end up intestate without realising. A new house, a new grandchild or the death of an executor are all good reasons to look again, and we are here to help you review your arrangements as life changes.

A will prepared by BeAdvised Legacy Planning provides clarity, certainty and peace of mind for you and your family.
